Description
Too often Lean is seen as a set of improvement tools that focus on operational aspects (waste elimination, flow, inventory reduction, …).
Of course the purpose of an organization is to deliver value to their customers with higher quality, shorter leadtime and lower cost.
However, the real power of Lean/TPS is the way HOW this is achieved: by empowering and developing employees at all levels to be engaged in solving problems and improvement.
Often, this part of Lean, a true Kaizen culture, does not get so much attention or is taken for granted.
This can be due to the pressure to get short term financial/operational results, while investing in a supporting Human Resources Development (HRD) strategy of learning and development that supports Lean/TPS in the long run is not considered.
In this training we will teach participants everything you need to know about HRD, the missing part in many organizations.
HRD is about looking for talents of all our employees and developing these further in order to match these as close as possible to the job or task that has to be completed.
And this in a way that people feel challenged, but supported, in realizing their objectives. Hence, we get the best out of everyone while they are developing themselves,
growing, creating successes, feeling proud of their achievements and becoming engaged.
In a Lean environment this not just the task of the Human Resources department. It is one of the crucial missions of every leader, every day.
Only this way a rue Lean culture can emerge, changing from a traditional situation where management does all the trouble shooting fire-fighting to a Lean environment
where employees are developed to discover waste in processes and to be able to solve problems that are impacting the customer in a structured way.
In this one-day training, you will learn how HRD can be set up to enable Gemba Management and on-the-job development, inspired by how Toyota builds an army of engaged problem-solvers.

Contents
In this one day program we will cover what Human Resources Development entails in a Lean environment. What is it and why is it so crucial in a Lean environment?
We will introduce a Lean HRD framework and all ‘ingredients’ that are needed for designing and implementing an effective HRD approach:
What is the ideal employee and leader?
Next we will focus on one of the key aspects of HRD: how to develop employees on the job.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the process of OJD (On the Job Development) with a case study exercise.
In the final part of this day our trainer will present some effective supporting development tools.
We have let ourselves inspired by how HRD at Toyota is set-up and deployed in order to create a true Kaizen culture with an army of problem-solvers,
truly committed and engaged and for whom challenge and improvement is like a second nature.

Raf Mues
Raf is a certified master trainer in Toyota Global Content and TPS courses, including TBP (Toyota Business Practices), Hoshin Kanri, A3/PDCA Thinking. Before joining the Lean Academy, he lived and breathed TPS and the Toyota Way for almost 30 years at Toyota Motor Europe where he held several operational management roles, including leading and supporting Kaizen initiatives across warehouse operations.
Certification
Participants who complete the full one-day programme receive an official Certificate of Attendance from the Lean Academy.
This certificate confirms participation in a recognised Lean Human Resources Development training delivered by senior trainers with Toyota-level expertise.
